On the 21st April Stuart
and
Joanne Hunt set off to trek to
Everest Base Camp and very kindly decided to raise money for Active Hope in the
process. Here is a bit about them.
This is
something we have wanted to do as a personal challenge and thought it would be
a great opportunity to raise money for Charity to boot (pardon the pun!). We chose Active Hope as we love the outdoors
(hence being crazy enough to undertake this trek!) and so we are strongly
supportive of any organisation that will help local children who would
otherwise not have the opportunity to experience the wonders and excitement the
outdoors have to offer.
The ascent
will take 11 days, through remote Sherpa villages and up the Khumbu glacier for
the final approach to Everest Base Camp at 5300m above sea level. A further goal is to reach the
peak of
Kala Pattar at 5500m above sea level
overlooking Everest Base Camp and offering views of the surrounding mountains
including Everest itself! This is
followed by a 4 day descent.
We hope you
can help to give us that extra incentive to fight through the altitude sickness
and stomach problems to reach our 2 main goals by sponsoring us! You can
donate via Just Giving at www.justgiving.com/StuandJo-everest alternatively you can use a
sponsorship form available on request. The trip itself has been fully
paid for by us so 100% of funds raised will go directly to the Charity.
If you
would like to see our progress, technology and signal permitting, we will be
updating a blog en route at stu-intheclouds.blogspot.com/
Thank
you so much Stuart and Joanne. We really do appreciate this effort.
