our activities
A fantastic and confidence inspiring introductory to Watersport, our sit-on-top kayaks are stable and manoeuvrable, meaning this is an activity that is full of games and laughter and offers the opportunity to learn a new skill.
kayaking
archery
Active Hope Instructors are nationally qualified archery leaders and will help everyone hit the target in a session filled with games and fun, but that requires the patience and perseverance of learning a new skill safely.
mountain biking
An activity that offers achievement and adventure for all levels of biking ability.
From exploring the woods and whooshing down hills to the wonderful feeling of achievement of learning to ride a bike for the first time.
resilience
There is no feeling of achievement quite like exploring the water with your team on a raft you built yourselves! A great way to develop team work, problem solving and communication as well as being fantastic splashy fun.
raft building
social skills
There is a very good reason that SUP has become the fastest growing sport in the world!
A fun and engaging activity that develops balance, co-ordination and helps to boost confidence out on the water.
stand up paddleboarding
canoeing
A fantastic way to explore the water, with a real emphasis on journeying and working together to paddle the boat. Canoes are the most stable craft in our fleet and are a fantastic way for even the least water-confident to enjoy an adventure by boat.
forest adventures
We love the woods, there's so much to do and see!
These sessions provide opportunities for children to thrive outdoors, as part of structured activities like den building, fire lighting or forest games, or just by providing space to explore and simply be... surrounded by the wonders of nature.
Great fun and an opportunity to face up to fears and develop confidence.
Whether it's a visit to the climbing tower as part of a residential or regular trips to local climbing walls to develop skills, climbing is a great activity to boost confidence.
climbing
natural world
Always a highlight, and much more than just a chance to sing some songs and toast some marshmallows! Camp fires are also wonderful times for reflecting on everything that’s taken place during a project and to share and celebrate each other's achievements.

team building initiatives
We have loads of games and activities which our
Instructors will use to develop a group's team building and/or problem solving skills. A mainstay of our Which Way Now and Winter Warmer projects, but can form part of any project in pretty much any location.
orienteering
Learning a new and useful skill that requires patience, teamwork and also helps with
maths and literacy. Orienteering can take place in a number of our locations, or on the
school site!
physical
wild cooking
Under careful supervision, on Trangia stoves or open fire, wild cooking is fantastic for learning some basic cooking skills. It could be making bread, a full cooked breakfast or just some tasty treats, as well as taking responsibility, working safely and team work.
Theres nothing like a day at the beach! Either as part of a residential trip or a stand alone
visit, beach days offer a chance to have fun and relax by the sea, as well as to learn all
about the beach environment.
beach days
hill and nature walks
A chance to explore and achieve, there are few feelings quite like making it to the top of a
hill and soaking in the view. A shared adventure that develops resilience and team spirit,
either as part of a residential trip or a stand alone day out.
Camping adds an extra sense of adventure to our residentials. We provide tents and sleeping mats, and even sleeping bags if needed. There's something wonderful about sleeping under canvas surrounded by the sounds of the forest and sharing the experience with friends.
