What to do first:

​

  1. Ensure the group are located somewhere safe and in shelter if necessary.

  2. Administer first aid if needed.

  3. Prepare the following information:

  • Location (grid reference if possible, use google maps etc, or postcode if not, or last known location)

  • Casualty and group information

  • Incident details

 

If you have signal, make any calls where you are.

If not, ensuring the group is safe, a PAIR of people should leave the group to find signal/phone box.

What to do next​​:

 

  • Contact the emergency services if necessary (999, 112 or text 999)

  • Prepare to wait, add layers/keep as warm as possible, eat and drink.

  • Monitor any casualties and record injuries and any changes.

  • Keep phones on loud and close by in case of contact.

  • If necessary, a pair may be sent to meet Active Hope staff or emergency services at a suitable location (road, building of note, path junction)
